Group II Base Oils

Group II Base Oils are manufactured through advanced hydroprocessing technology with catalytic dewaxing under high hydrogen pressure. Using state-of-the-art catalyst systems, the dewaxing process converts normal straight-chain paraffins into branched isoparaffins, producing high-performance base stocks. Unlike solvent dewaxing, isomerization dewaxing results in superior properties such as:

  • High viscosity index
  • Excellent oxidation stability
  • Low volatility (Noack)
  • Outstanding low-temperature performance

Applications

Passenger Car Motor Oils - PCMO (5W, 10W, 15W grades)

Group II base oils are widely used in passenger car motor oils due to their balance of oxidation stability, viscosity index, and low sulfur content. They help formulators achieve API SN/SM and ILSAC GF-5 standards, delivering reliable protection and fuel efficiency.

For commercial vehicles and heavy-duty engines, Group II base oils provide the required thermal stability and deposit control. They extend oil life, reduce downtime, and meet strict ACEA E7/E9 and API CK-4 standards for modern diesel engines.

Group II base oils are a common choice for manual (MTF) and automatic transmission fluids (ATF), offering excellent shear stability and frictional characteristics. They ensure smooth gear shifting, extended component life, and reduced wear.

Due to their low sulfur and high oxidation resistance, Group II base oils are suitable for high-pressure hydraulic systems. They provide excellent cleanliness and thermal stability, ensuring consistent performance in mobile and industrial hydraulics.

Group II base oils are used in gas and steam turbines as well as air compressors where oxidation resistance and low volatility are essential. They help reduce oil consumption and extend equipment life in critical power generation and industrial applications.

Group II base oils provide the film strength and load-carrying capacity required for gear systems. Their stability ensures longer oil drain intervals and protection under heavy shock loads, making them suitable for steel mills, mining, and heavy industry.
